An incredible story of adversity, resilience and humility.

Charlie is a recovering addict-alcoholic, choosing sobriety over addiction on July 23, 1992. Since that day, Charlie has challenged himself to experience all that life has to offer.
He is an adventure athlete, becoming the first person to run across the entire length of the Sahara Desert. He has raced, run explored the Gobi Desert, the Atacama Desert, the jungles of Borneo, Vietnam and the Amazon, winning many events along the way. He has placed in the top five at the Badwater Ultramarathon several times. He is a mountaineer, a whitewater fanatic, a cyclist, a juggler and a professional ping pong player.
Charlie is also a filmmaker and television producer, with two feature-length documentaries to his credit. He was a producer for the first two seasons of Extreme Makeover Home Edition.
Most recently, Charlie served 18 months in Beckley Federal Prison, following a conviction for allegedly overstating his income on a home loan application.
